What is the distance you are concerned with? Use the full 1158 watt or 9.7 amps for starters. That would be more than adequate.
Somewhere in the specs it should tell you the pickup, holding, and drop out voltage for that starter coil. That will give you an idea.

I see sealed for a CH size 5 is 100va. A 300va Acme can supply up to 2812va @ 20% PF. 90% of secondary voltage.

The distance is around 1000 feet - the 9.7 amps would be momentary - couple cycles(?). I will dig a little deeper for the vendor info on this one.

5-20 milliseconds. Control circuits run that distance can create other problems. The Stop buttons don't want to work properly. That size of coil may not have a problem. IDK. I believe SQ D used to have a paper on it. Hopefully some one can give you a link.
