Washer and disposal hook up

I'm like whoever else said, "I've never seen a DW in the wild with a cord" I've put in dozens of them and they only came with a junction box for the wiring.

I wonder why. We always run NM to the dishwasher and NM in 1/2" FMC to the disposer.

I have never installed, nor even seen a cord-connected dishwasher or disposer.
Really, for awhile all the dishwasher that we had on sight came prewired with cord and plug. We installed a receptacle in the sink cabinet so it was an easy install.

Disposals always came without a cord so we did the same as you, only we used carflex to the disposal.

The inspector was a bobble-head, all of the builders I've worked with like the hot recep's at DW and fridge, seems to benefit everyone and the whip for the DW seems to be a faster install than a romex; but that could just be in my own echo chamber.

As I said, never saw one with a cord. But what I have seen is the option to add a cord but it had to be one from the mfg. They listed the part number.

I've seen the cords hanging by the disposers in the orange and blue stores, and I have even used them on occasion for other needs, but not for these fixed-in-place appliances.

As I suggested, it's based on local tradition. We teach our apprentices what we were taught.

For those of you that see dishwashers with a flexable cord, do you install the code required grommet ? 422.16(B)(2)(5) I think.
