What are these?

Hello,

I found these fittings connecting EMT to rigid bodies. I like 'em and have looked through my catalogs but can't seem to find who made/makes them. Anybody know?

Were they used for the listed purpose?

Looks like a chase nipple with a slot cut in the side, never seen it with the slot.

These were not hand cut. I found several and they are clearly made that way. Also, they are thin-walled so that they clamp down.
