What's Wrong Here ?

Someone sent me this photo so I thought I'd share it with all of you. See if you can spot the violations. At my first glance (aside from the rodent being in there)

• The 3 pipes are of different sizes
• Only one is unthreaded
• One of the blades isn't locked into the jaws

People actually do these things !!!

I would say the original installation was good evidenced by the green wire.
The person(s) responsible afterwards sucked big time.

True. The threads act as heat sinks so you can use smaller wire.

What type of fuse rating would you get with this type of set-up. Certainly not available in a GFCI configuration I am guessing.

Obviously it was the knife contacts that failed.

Oh, I'll bet those were plumping nipples and not electrical fittings.

None of the above. Should have used black steel nipples instead of galvanized, conductivity is better, plus no worries of galvanic corrosion

It appears that the center and right side nipples are black steel, all 3 need to be galvanized

Like when you replace shear pins on machinery with grade 8 bolts. Yeah it will stop the shear pins from breaking, but something else will break instead with much more serious consequence.

Oh yes. Customer inserted phillips screwdriver in place of shear pin. About $600 just for the gearbox, not counting me.

Nahh, you need to use copper pipe.

No, only problem, pipes were not all same size length or diameter giving an uneven resistance across the phases, causing the load to be unevenly distributed to the motor and heating of the parts,......lol
But is the or was the conductor on load side fuse connection far left a white one? And where did the red conductor kind of laying on the bottom suppose to go? Why was green ground wires going to the neutral bus and no white neutral wires?

There is nothing wrong with that it goes along with everything else people do what they want and they don't care. And they certainly don't care about other people
