Walk in see the closet this is your bedroom. Nec does not make rule but your players on the secondary mortgage market such as Freddie, Fannie, FHA, VA hold true to this.
You are opening a can of worms with the closet statement. This has been debated here many times with no results. Our inspectors say if there is a closet there will be a smoke detector installed since it can be used as a bedroom.Be it a den, game room etc if there is a closet there will be a smoke detector installed.
In one post i read that the distance is 15 ft. Not here the rules go 10 ft from the bedroom door,Not within 3 ft of a forced air vent, not within 3 ft of a bathroom door.within 4 ins trimmed out of the highest point of the ceiling, one at the highest point in the house, one at the bottom of the stair landing.Since we don`t have basements we don`t worry about them.
