The shoe's and bender were for RIGID pipe only. It took a few days for somebody that could read the lettering on the side of it to figure out why all the pipe was kinked.

Ain't.........no.......buddy........there...........who..........kin...........speed..............read........

1 1/4" conduit - thought that was an electrical myth....

EMT I assumed. I don't think most of use could even put more than a kick in 1-1/4" rigid by hand, even if a hand bender existed.
I think a 1-3/4" EMT bender fits 1-1/4" rigid.

The manual rachet benders go to 1 1/2 Rigid, there is a bending chart somewhere on this site, it explains how to avoid kinks, and describes all the different benders.

About the benders.
Hand benders arrived brand new, in boxes, with this job.
They are identical, with a two-position foot pedal, no obvious defects.
Did not check if hand benders are marked exclusively for 1" Rigid, will do so.

Is it possible to use a different brand hand bender or are these the only ones you have? Those being new and untested benders, I'd be checking them out first.

Found out the pre-fab 90's ordered by the Mechanical foreman were all bad. Ovaled & oblonged, would not mate with connectors or couplings. This guy is not communicating with me.

Will be recommending the Chicago type bender in the morning, before my caboose gets caught in this train wreck.

Almost ALL pipe kinks are caused by inadequate foot pressure in the downward direction by the bender operator. I cant even tell you how many people try to blame the bender while they have the pipe blocked against a column or curb and pulling sideways on the pipe. The 2 shot bender is the best for 1 1/4 but requires DOWNWARD constant pressure to hold the shoe tight against the floor. Get your heaviest guy or do it with 2 guys one just holds downward weight keeping the shoe flat to the floor and the other guy pulls the handle. Please film this and put it on you tube.
