I like that window sill thingy

I have weather resistant GFCIs in my truck. Fifteen bucks. P&S, purchased yesterday.

I do not believe this product is listed. When you dig into the site, it tells one that the "Silltites T" are listed, that is the window lamps they manufacture. I emailed the company and UL to see if the SCR itself is listed.

Pierre wouldn't this statement make theis unit listed and approved.

  • Sillites? are Underwriter Laboratories (UL) listed in USA and Canada (99TF)
  • All components are individually UL listed in USA and Canada

Here is that link

Their site does not give a UL category code, or a UL file number.
If it's listed, I like to read what it's listed for.
I searched UL for their name, but it comes up empty

I am not sure what you mean. The website states that it can be used anywhere a small receptacle is needed except for in wet locations like near sinks. Not sure what near sinks means but...

That link is for the candles they manufacture, not the receptacles.
When I get a response back from them next week, I will let you know.

Yes, that is it's intended purpose but not it's only purpose. Please let me know what you find. Thanks

from U.L. guide info. RTRT

Self-contained Receptacles — Self-contained receptacles include an enclosure and mounting means intended for flush mounting without the use of a separate flush device or other outlet box. They are intended for use with Types NM and NMC cable in accordance with the NEC, specifically Sections 300.15(E), 334.40(C), 545.10, 550.15(I), 551.47(E) Exception No. 1 and 552.48(E) Exception No. 1 and are so identified by specific marking on the carton in which they are packed. Devices employing insulation displacement terminals are intended for assembly with specific installation tools only. Reference must be made to the installation instructions regarding the proper tool and the number of cables (per entry) with which the devices are intended to be used.

I think it will be found that this is what it is and that the candlestick maker developed the candle around this self contained receptacle and has gotten a UL listing for the candle and this receptacle to be used together as one

Then why does it say that all components are UL listed. It does not say that it is a UL listed lighting system.

Have you contacted the company? It might be one avenue for the info you are trying to get.
if you purchase a new product, do you look for a listing from an NRTL before you actually buy it?

I know some products are not required to be listed.

so they can sell the rec. independently for other uses:smile:

I called the compant today and the said the receptacle (approx. $15) can be bought separately and was UL listed for 15 amps as any other recep. would be. It is sold as stand alone and you buy the candle if you want.

Similar to a floor box I use on ocassion (see p. 6), but much smaller scale. But somewhere I missed your loophole to 406.4(E).

The receptacle is in the window sill which is slighter higher than the countertop. It is clearly a window sill that these will go in.

Yes, the guy at sill lite told me they have been used in islands. Opens up some interesting possibilities.
