Hello all! What is the best performing wire lube you have used? Also what are your thoughts on no lube wire.
Yeah I've used that. Comes in the big 1000 ft plastic container and pulls out like CAT 5 cable. Love that stuff. We used it all the time at the factory. I can't afford that kind of inventory as an independent contractor now.You mean something like SIMpull with the ridges?
Not to use lube or don't waste your money on lube because it's so slick? I think that it's the latter. You can use lube if you want to as it is not prohibited but also (according to Southwire) not needed.Southwire has the Simpull Thhn, it has a slick finish, and the manufacturer says to not use lube with it.
Maybe....maybe not.......Yup, just says that you don't need lube not that you cannot use any.
It doesn't say that you cannot use it either." SIMpull THHN® copper conductors are designed to be installed without application of a pulling lubricant. "
Edit to add: It does not say the conductors were designed to be installed with or without lube. Only without.
Actually years ago, it was printed on the spools “Do not use lube” so they must have changed it.It doesn't say that you cannot use it either.
Yes, there was a big sticker on the spools that said something like: STOP! Do not use wire pulling lube. And then the fine print said something like unless you want to waste money.Actually years ago, it was printed on the spools “Do not use lube” so they must have changed it.
Back when they used soap flakes and water? When I was coming up in the trade in the old timers said it was the cheapest thing in the pull.

Yup. I seem to remember it saying just "DO NOT LUBE". A lot of the guys would think that was real funny to take the sticker and put it on their truck or toolbox.......Actually years ago, it was printed on the spools “Do not use lube” so they must have changed it.
