looking for help quick please. have a 500' run with the load at the end being 95A. 208v and we are allowed 5% VD

Distance of run is 500'

Want to use AL SER cable?

We will install OCPD to protect wire.

Do we need to run one size the entire way? Would it be more beneficial to run larger size then splice down?

What size(s) AL SER cable do you show will work for this? Thanks

LOLOLOL. Thanks.

I was told we can run 300' with 4/0 then the remaining 190' with 1/0. The GC said they would put a splice box at the 300' mark. Does that make sense? That is the way we priced it.

If the run is going underground you can't use SER.

If that’s the way it’s shown on the plans, then you build it to the plans.

That being said, that design is goofier than a wooden watch. Unless there is a load at the 300’ mark that reduces the load at the end.

You can download the south wire VD Calc and run it that way if you want.

The cost for the labor to make the splice will negate any savings in reducing conductor size. Stop listening to a GC.

So can I figure 95A to the splice box distance for on VD calc and then another from splice box to trailer for other VD calc?

So lastly when doing a VD calc with a SPLICE BON in the run would I?

1. Input the calculated load at the end of the run only for the footage from source to splice box and then another calc with end of run calculated load from splice box to load?
