I like hot coffee though when does it become a personal responsibility?

The goal of the lawsuit was to try to right a wrong. “We knew, before the lawsuit was filed, that the temperature of the water was 190 degrees or so, and the franchise documents required that of the franchisee,” said Kenneth Wagner, an Albuquerque lawyer who represented Liebeck. Most home coffee makers produce coffee that is between 135 and 150 degrees, he added.
The full context of the case showed McDonald's knew there was a problem and did nothing about it. They were irresponsible, tin eared, big corporation scum bags. The woman who was burned didn't sue MacDonalds for a million dollars, it was the jury that came up with that.Sorry, I am more in to personal responsibility. Coffee is hot. Always has been. I'd bet it wasn't that lady's first time getting a McDonalds coffee either. The ideal temperature to drink coffee is 120 to 140 degrees. The brewing temp is 195 degrees. I would expect coffee to be ANYWHERE between those temps when served. The woman SPILLED the coffee. If McDonalds had poured it in her lap, I would agree.
FWIW, I would never pick up hot coffee from a driveup window. I would almost certainly spill it on myself. The full context of the case showed McDonald's knew there was a problem and did nothing about it. FWIW, I have seen that before, older EATON 100A panel, that main breaker spot actually has the stabs half removed so you can't install a breaker back to back with the main.noticed the main breaker showed signs of
arcing at one time not arcing now everything working fine.
Internal discovery during the Liebeck v. McDonald's trial confirmed that the company's "heat policy" was driven by a cold-blooded financial calculation. By serving coffee at 180–190°F, they ensured it was physically impossible to drink for 15–20 minutes, which directly translated to lower operational costs
- Blocking Free Refills: McDonald's knew that if you had to wait 15+ minutes for the coffee to cool, most dine-in customers would be finished with their meal and ready to leave before they could ever finish their first cup. This prevented people from taking advantage of free refills, saving the company millions in product costs annually.
A lot of the McDonald's and Hardee's around here encourages seniors to come and hang out for breakfast.Wow talk about bean counters gone wild.
They wanted Grandma and her friend to leave right away and not have a second cup and talk about their grandkids at thursday brunch. Eat your egg mcmuffin and GTFO Granny.
