There still has to be a real time clock crystal or moderately accurate time base generator in the local device with battery back-up. The standard / daylight information comes from Colorado, probably is 1 bit of information in the data stream. Clock update is only done at certain times.

Back to the micro PLC then, the A-B Micro 820 has a DST option. It's the next size up from the 810.

Or, I just provide a basic time clock that has very easy to follow directions for resetting its time just like any homeowner time clock.

I love technology, this is not an application for it though.

BTW, I have those clocks in my home and have installed tower clock controlers that use those signals. I am not unaware of these things.

I have programmed and installed PLCs and I know they could be used for this for sure.

That is just not the interface I think will work for these folks, I want to use something a typical homeowner would deal with.

I'll add: An obvious"Off" switch in case for some reason the bell decides it doesn't want to stop working.

What I did for the local noon whistle 30 years ago. Other than DST and an occasional TC adjustment it works well. Someone eventually figures out the time isn't quite right and is motivated enough to make the adjustment.
