It doesn't matter that the NEC is the law, because the interpretation of that law is what counts. 90.4.

Would any of you care that this thread is what is putting me over the edge?....I'm going to kill my self good night
Don't do that, life's too short as it is.
True. Thanks. You talked me off the ledge...OH and I agree with everything the Badger says.
That's ok there is still hope for you LOL
How can one comply with the support requirement in "358.30(B)" if the EMT is not run through framing members? It would seem to me that if "358.30(A)" AND "358.30(B)" must be met, and "358.30(A)" is just about "securing" and "358.30(B)" is just about "support", then the only "permitted" support is through framing members and no other installation would be allowed by code (unless "short" accordance with "358.30(C)")? I'm usually a "letter of the code" kind of guy, but I'm inclined to think that there is something more going on here than exactly what the words would seem to say. I tend to agree that "358.30(B)" is most likely intended as an exception to the securing requirements of "358.30(A)". I also think that this thread alone would be ample justification for having clarifying modifications to be made to the code, regardless of the intent.
Time to reword it either way but does need fixed.
I will agree with you Jim. How about you send in the modification?
Would but i am totally retired by end of year. By the time it gets corrected and adopted i will have been out of the field for many years. One of you young guys need to do it.
Retired huh, just look at how much time you'll have to deal with it,
You completely hanging up your tools or keeping a sideline business for ..... whatever funds?
John, you need to go back and read what I posted, I never said their commentary was code did I? What I said was they felt the same as Mike and the poll majority.
Roger
Yeah ........... we all do.
I am sure you have done similar in those 40 years of inspecting.
So if the fight is over who gets the burrito ?
Look at the poll Jim.
