And doing all those projects around the house that have been neglected for the past 10 years. ;)
Actually I had my guys spend a couple of days at our house, putting in smoke detectors, a couple of recessed cans, paddle fans, ... The house has benefitted from the slow down, no doubt !

I just got home from work and I'm working tomorrow. Could you send someone by to tend to the yard and pool?

Be glad to Chris, but you know how electricians are when it comes to non-electrical work!! Well maybe not everyone, but I got to tell you what happened to me. Some time ago I had a few of my guys doing some demo work at a local Walmart store. They were taking down those space master bins they have in the back for the lay away stuff. It was a Walmart that had always called us for their electrical work and I did not want to turn them down. Well, one of my guys quit after a couple of days of work, said it was not electrical work. I agree it was not all electrical (although you still had to decomission the motors, and demo the branch circuits going to them, but more than half of the work was brute force mechanical). So I would send them to your house, but not sure how many of them will show back up the next day !! e/m

It's not just you. It is slowing down.
I was afraid of that. Somehow, if it were only me, I would have been happier, because I would be able to fix that, making some changes. If it is the whole economy, it will take more fundamental changes / restructuring on our part to make it work. e/m

any of you guys remember how business was in 1992??? housing was dead and commercial was in a nose dive! our economy has been running on fumes for over a year. ...

The economy here is nothing like it was in 1992. It is so much better. But I will grant you that it is in the worst shape since 1992. BTW, I started in this business full time in '90 and part time since the mid '80's so I remember it well.

Work here on Cape Cod has really really slowed down a lot and everyone seems to be letting people go. We are still very busy hard to keep up with everything we have going on. Well we have the Forbes family island account also so that does help us out a lot! But yeah I feel bad for a lot of people it really stinks

Yes I was going to quit I had an "IN" with the local 223 than the work went away and the union called me and told me it was very slow right now and they would call me when things picked up again. So I'm stuck waiting......

We have several builders here that have shut down big multi family building projects, because they just aren't selling the units. Our numbers are way off here also.

I was lamenting to a supply house manager, and he told me that their sales were 20% lower this year, compared to same period last year. Very troubling ! e/m

I don't do new residential work so really had not noticed the slow down, but it has dropped off considerably in this area from what I am being told.
Has the remodel / addition market been any better?
