Looks fine, if you want to save a few bucks you could use a 15 amp duplex.
 
Don't most dishwashers say in the installation instructions that they must be connected to individual branch circuit? Wouldn't that not allow it per the installation instructions?

Only if you read those instructions, if not you can do whatever you want.:D

I received the appliance shop drawings. Sure enough, the dishwasher wants "an individual properly grounded branch circuit."

My problem is if I "ignore" it and the AHJ checks on the instructions, or whatever, there are potentially hundreds of units that will have to be field modified! I can't take that chance.

I would love to know the REAL reason for this requirement.

The real reason for that instruction is a CYA approach to warranty issues I would guess.

To me, individual ≠ dedicated.

While the dishwasher wants one, the disposal does not. And both appliances are GE. Go figure.

And you still won't have any problem with both on same 20 amp circuit outside of someone telling you the instructions don't allow that.

I've never heard of an inspector getting into that kind of nitty gritty, nor would it be something I would worry about. But, I understand you have a large scale project. Any chance you can contact the AHJ's where these complexes will be built for their opinion?

As a user, I would be super annoyed if running the garbage disposal interrupted my dishwasher's cycle and made me restart it. Particularly if the only reason it was designed that way was to satisfy some CYA statement in the dishwasher's manual that has no technical basis in reality.

The owners are going to ask - says who? What code section tells us to also refer to appliance installation instructions?

BTW, I checked the instructions for three manufacturers of dishwashers, one diidn't address individual circuits, one only "recomended" it, but only good old GE under "Electrical Requirements" said there must be an individual branch circuit. Pardon my, but that's a crock! Adds an additional ~$100 per unit to the electrical installation costs. :rant:

One may be able to question whether or not such instructions are included in the listing or labeling though. Some instructions are so poorly written I kind of doubt they are a part of the listing.
 
Dishwashers appear to work fine with the air-swich. The only complaints are button color options. Reviewers are most happy using the air switch with wet hands.

Is still a solution looking for a problem IMO. The need to shut the dishwasher down while running the disposer that is, we have already had "air switches" that can operate the disposer so that part is nothing new.
 
Apparently the DW keeps humming along with no troubles. Try interrupting your dishwasher with the circuit breaker & see what happens.
