Have you noticed that the serving electric utility has not connected it yet? If it were here, we would not connect the service drop to the PVC. The customer would be required to either replace the PVC with either RMC or IMC and in lieu of that he could provide a separate point of attachment (roof rack). :)

For my own curiosity, If this service is replacing the one in the background, would the old riser be OK for the POA?

Depends on the circumstances. If the old service is being replaced, will the support for the conduit change? Is the service drop conductors large enough? If they are not large enough, will the old riser support larger conductors? Has a driveway or parking area been installed to make the existing POA too low? :)

Also, you vultures can fell free to tear this up as there is still time to improve this install.

the only thing that surprised me was the pvc riser.... obviously it's acceptable for
local codes, or you would have done something with GRC.... all the risers you
see out on this coast are GRC.

and we are all warm, loving, supportive people here on this forum... who you
calling a vulture? back to sensitivity training for you....

is randy a. raunch listed on the sign a real person?

are you going to paint the riser to match the building?
are you going to paint the building to match the riser?
something's gotta give here, dear. the gray is tragic.

you are brave sending your customer to view photos on the forum....
the peer review aspect of the experience may be difficult for someone
lacking the social graces necessary to be an electrician, to understand....:D

we'll try and be gentle with your customer.....

Is this a "riser" or a "mast" ? Both terms are being thrown out here. Apples and oranges.

To me, a riser is the pipe on top of the meter. To call it a mast, it must also have/be the POA. All masts are risers, but not vice-versa.
If the POA is not the pipe itself, it's just a riser. I use the different terms as I may well have a riser inside a structure. Clear as mud now?

This service is in addition to the existing. The POA is one of the existing GRC's. The existing drop comes from a Delta bank two poles away. POCO will be tapping up the new service to the existing drop.

I don't see a problem attaching to the existing service raceway. I also don't see a definition for mast or riser and believe they can be used interchangeably. The NEC uses service raceway almost exclusively and in 230.28 it uses the term service mast. All this reminds me that IPL has always referred to conduit on a pole as a riser and Ma Bell has always referred to conduit on a pole as a dip. Ain't semantics cool?

I've never had even a single cup of coffee. Tea, Pepsi, etc., yes. Coffee smells too bad to taste.

Only cup of coffee I ever drank was when I spent a night in the hospital. I told the nurse I was thirsty, and asked for water. She said I could have some ice. I said I'm too thirsty for ice, what can I have to drink. I could have coffee!

I couldn't believe it. I can't have water, but I can have coffee?!?!?! I thought, "What's the main ingredient in coffee anyway?!"
