I was 13 riding my ATV.... I wondered what would happen if I reached down and pulled the plug wire when it was running. I found out. I felt a shooting pain shoot through my finger tip and up my arm. It felt like someone grabed my arm and shot a bullet down the middle of my arm. I looked to see if I had a finger and thanked the Lord.

I did this as a child you did this as an ADULT.....IQ please

Does a defibrillator count?

db

Funniest thing about defibrillators.....was wiring a cardiac surgeons office years ago, and there was a defib in the stress-test room (you know... the dreaded treadmill!). Installing UC lights, and looked down at the defib.... it said, "Caution! Risk of electric shock!"

I thought, 'Isn't that was it's supposed to do?!?!?!"

7500v from a neon transformer about twenty years ago before they required gfci. Man that hurt- had arthritis in both arms for a week.

Luckily it was only 30ma.

I get shocked by static electricity ... man, that just infuriates me for about a half second... . It seems so unnecessary and underhanded... like a booby trap.
I feel exactly the same way. I've gotten in the habit of either fisrt slapping, say, a doorknob or touching it with a key in my hand.

I actually ruined a stereo reciever and a set of bose speakers by walking across the room to adjust the volume, an a spark jumped outta my finger about 18" ( more or less ) to the volume knob.
18", or 1/8"???

He said he was 13 when he did that. I don't know about you, but I think most people consider 13 to be a child.[/QUOTE]

You haven't talked to my 13 year old daughter then. She thinks I am the dumbest man she has ever met.

I have to admit, I'd rather be hit with 277 than static electricity.
It irritates and embarrases the heck out of me all in one hit.
I have "Electrician Reflex" I get hit and I jump like a girl. No
offense to any women on this forum. :D

I think he was giving you a compliment about the signature. I don't think he meant it how you took it.

Absolutely - Absolutely.
The combination of MikeAmes story and the signature - Brilliant.
No reason at all for you to appologize.

When I was 13, the only ATV's we had were either US Keds or PF Fliers. My 'stupid' story is not electricity-related, so I can't tell you the whole thing, but it involves four 13-year-old boys, about 30 feet of 1/2" manila rope, and a really big black angus steer.

My first 277 hit was from a neutral. Burned a hole in my left palm.
After demonstrating to everyone around me that I know every obscene
word in the English language. I just put electrical tape on it and
went back to work.:D

So far, 277v shocks have the most votes.

You should see me jump when my phone virates.:D

Yeppers and whats worse is when it happens in front of a new customer...

About 2000, I had just finished a walk thru with a new customer and we were sitting at the DR table going over everything,... off goes my phone, I twitched (spazzed out actually...as I only had the new phone for about a day and this was the first vibrate coming from it)...she screamed, her 3 dogs started yapping, then hubby comes flying up from basement ready to do battle. It took a few minutes to get everything under control, then we all laughed hard for about 20 minutes, tears coming from ours eyes, etc....

Got the job, all turned out well. I still run into them once in awhile at a store or somthing....adn to this day, the first response from both of us is a big grin or laugh.....
