AHJ has final Say
Brian John - I was not indicating AHJ is absolutely correct on all instances they are not, but they are still AHJ which may mean they are using NEC and may mean they are following a owner's doctrine - Hopefull a stated doctrine or some convoluded mix of both- work at goverment building has standards higher than NEC but not neccessarly better than IE straping within 1' of box or within 1' on either side of 90 degree bend - a few I have meet in my lifetime would listen to reason, however many more were dogmatic bureacrats who had no intention of listening and provided every indication in subsequent inspections they were going to find something wrong even if there was nothing to find. The OSF inspectors work from a 18 page guide book for electrical in conjuncition with what portions of the NEC they know and understand. I was simply trying to state as in below quotation - as it is entirely possible you win the battle but lose the war IE the extra time it took to get answers from AHJ and get a clean inspection put you into LD on the job Regarding making it better or worse for those following me, I have had the painful opportunity to follow behind other electricians who attempted to right all the wrongs of the AHJ or Engineer that only appeared to make matters worse instead of better for those following.
