What is your preferred brand of Lineman's Pliers?

I like the Kleins with the lighter blue handles (D2000-9NE), they are rated for cutting steel, and I feel that the blades stay sharp longer when used on copper and the occasional nail.

I get a pair of Kleins and immediately take off the handles and get me some of those heat shrinked ones. Mine are about due for replacing now because I had a really long job that was all hospital grade MC that pretty well shot them.

Add TP to the end of that model number and you've got the ones I prefer.;)

Klein, mainly because it is the most readily available and trusted brand around here. My wife bought me a Kobalt electricians set for Christmas and I have recently got around to using the lineman's after my Klein's finally went the way of the grave. The Kobalt has a thick semi-cutioned handle and so far they are a descent pair. Whatever the brand, the crimp feature is a must.

Klein journeyman blue/black handles.... no crimper no fish tape puller. They are OK, the 'teeth' wore down quickly though.

Id like to try some knipex, but I cant seem to find a normal pair with flat jaws.

I was going to vote for Klein, but I didn't see it listed in the poll.

I guess I'll use my teeth instead. :)

I haven't owned linesmans with crimpers in years. They are totally useless. IMO of course. :)

I had a pair of Ideals with yellow handles that had the crimp feature that someone gave me years ago, I hated them with a passion, they felt awkward a clunky, I think the crimp feature must have thrown off the distance that I held my hand from the pivot that I was used to, and I never used the crimper on them. I dont like the needle nose pliers with crimpers or stripping hole either....

I just remembered that I have those Ideal pliers too. I forgot I had them because I never use them. I use these for crimping, though I doubt they are listed for use with any of the crimps I use them for:

I love my Klein Lineman's. They're the most versatile tool in my belt. Pliers, pullers, cutters, hammer, locknut tightener, concrete chisel, sheetrock-hole-maker.. the list is endless. I even blew a #12 hole in them by accident once so sometimes they're even wire strippers.

Yes I wear safety glasses when I wantonly violate my tool's warranty.
