I just remembered that I have those Ideal pliers too. I forgot I had them because I never use them. I use these for crimping, though I doubt they are listed for use with any of the crimps I use them for:

I have a pair of Thomas and Betts crimpers that came in a crimping set very similar to those, they have one black grip and one orange....

I allways herd people call the lineman's as Klein's.

As an older electrician put it once refuring to the lineman's pliers "They're called Klein's for a reason".

I like the fish tape puller.
A friend called me once and said they had a super low price on a Greenlee set of hand tools at HD, so I asked him to pick me up a set. Didn't notice right away maybe because they were green but it wasn't Greenlee. Comercial Electric Tools made in China. The metal is too soft.

Greenlee...Commercial Electric....the names are very similar so I'm not surprised that they got confused. ;)

I like Channel lock Brand Hand tools. My linemans are Channel lock Brand.
My old Diagonal cutters have bit the dust I have a new pair of kliens.
But they don't cut as good as the channel lock. Klien is good but my preference would be Channel lock.

I like the kleins with the blue and black handle. I've got a set of yellow and black handles but don't like those as much (not as fashionable:D). My brother bought me a set of tools from Snap On. He gave me a SnapON pair of linesmans. Those pair of pliers have the hardest jaws on them. They are also significantly heavier than Kleins and are more than twice the cost! The weight is a little irritating to walk around with all day in your pocket.

Why do some of you guys use replacement handles (the ones you boil?)??

I like them because they are slick enough to pull out of pockets and tool pouches and have yet a firm grip. I also appreciate the rugged insulation which comes in handy when twisting live wires (not that I'd admit to doing that)

I just had to walk out to the truck in the rain but I thought I had ideals with the yellow handles but I got the yellow handled kliens with the crimper and snake puller. I razorbladed the yellow handles off and beat on a pair of blue/black handles because I liked the colors better. Expensive but I want what I want.
