Low and high voltage in the same conduit

Yeah, I know and we've talked about "rolling your own" before. But the more I think about it I can't see why it wouldn't be. The LV is separated from the line voltage conductors in it's own listed 600V cable assembly.

I might be missing something but I'm not seeing anything that would prohibit it.

Because the rule only permits that were the either the power or low voltage conductors are in a non-metallic sheathed cable. The only cable type that you can buy that is listed as having a non-metallic sheath is NM. The language in 725.136 needs to be changed as the jacket on tray cable provides at least as much protection as the jacket on NM.
