Sending above thread to Arizona Department Of Labor, Electrical Division.

Why stop at AZ ? send it to every other state while your at it. The problem as I see it is , just because an inspector allows it doesn't make it right. If you were to wind up in a law suit it can be argued that it is not code compliant.

what hazard could possibly come from sleeving a group of nm down a chase, say 18" or less? Could it be the the attic fairies ( dressed like cowboys) will pull these cables right out of the panel?

The only problem I have is why they find it acceptable?

The only problem I have is, why does the NEC find it unacceptable?

Simple safe and efficient.

That's a stretch. Compliant or not, it is absolutely safe.

Non code compliant does not equal non safe. Code compliant does not equal safe.

Think about it. How safe is running exposed SE service cable???

So put in a proposal to have it changed. :)

I can not disagree with you that it works fine. :)

But until the rule is changed or amended I will follow it.

now you have forced me to go back in time and read all those other post. I did not know we were conversing about outdoor/patio panels. I'll be back later and I promise to try and kep up from now on!

Who wants their panel outside on the patio anyway?

You don't hide a work of art like this in a musty basement !

Very safe. Just like every panel in Az has all the branch circuit cables coming in through a chase nipple or plastic bushing, almost all the homes in my state have exposed SE cable for their service without a problem.

That's what you'd call empirical evidence that a particular way of doing something is safe.

My meter is actually located inside my house, apparently a previous screen porch, now enclosed and in my house. The POCO is much more understanding than the lil Mrs.

So, with all that has been said.....is anyone in an area wher you are required to abide by the manufacturer's rating for NM connectors ? It apparently is not an issue in my city. Though I read the specs from one of the manufacturers the other day and you are not to put more than 2 or 3 wires (can't remember which) through most any size connector they make. I personally abide by the rules, but it is apparent that I am in the minority in my locality.

You are going to go back and make sure those wires go straight into the breakers and busbars aren't you? :D

The electrons in AZ prefer a smooth even flow around a nice radius. It cuts down on the monthly bills as much as 12%.

BTW, all that stuff was CRAMMED into a twinned up panel before.

Don't forget that running electrons through a smooth surface like a chase nipple or plastic bushing can save upwards of 5%.
