PRE-cut knockouts in tops of load centers, and panelboards!

They NEVER line up in a line at 7/8" or 1 and 5/8" -?

One reason why we always use back boxes without KO's for commercial work. Some times we'll order them with KO's on one end but not the other if they might be getting recessed.

i would like to add i hate it when people punch large holes in a panel or trough that has precut knockouts. i think it looks disgusting

You must hate me. :D

You mean they punch say a 2" across a bunch of 1/2" KOs?

Well I don't like it either but I will do it when it eliminates more bends in the raceway. Usually I will cover that area with metal then make my KO so the connector still hits solid metal all and there are no open spaces where KOs fall out.

But you did make me remember a pet peeve.

I hate pre-made KOs in anything other then a residential load center and J-boxes smaller then 6"x6".

1.)Panelboards referred to as Load Centers :wink::grin:
2.)Pulling wire with somebody, or going behind somebody, who doesn't cut the hooks off the end and leaves it for somebody to get hooked on.
3.)A closed minded, lie believing, non code referencing know it all.....
4.)taking iwires knife...I hate getting cut:grin:
4.)give me a minute I'll think of something else

1) People not listening, they hear what the expect to hear.

2) People not thinking.
a) You see what I'm doing, you should be able to know what we are doing next.

b) Your going back to the truck and you should know we don't need that widget anymore, TAKE IT BACK!
3) You are paid to work, not text.

4) I show up with thousands of dollars of tools to do my work and all the jack legs want to borrow them to do their work.

5) Your not ready for me, why did you call me to come out here?

I just gave 5, there are more.

1) I'm halfway there and the shop calls me to tell me they cancelled because they got ahold of their jackhole brother in law.

2) People that don't believe in twisting their joints of solid wire.

3) Homeowners that want to "help me out"

4) Helpers that I need to carry a cattle prod to get anything out of. (We just sent one of those to Down the Road Elec)

5) Ask me that question about lunch time or so and I could write a book.

1) Drywallers covering my boxes.

2) Drywallers that pound on my boxes in order to mark their drywall sheets out.

3) People that unplug my extension cords.

4) Electricians that don't know how to strip wire with a razor knife. ;)

5) Other trades using my trapeze without asking.

6) Other trades hanging their stuff off my work.

7) Two phase.

8) More than 6 plan revisions in a month. What a waste of paper....

9) Making hands do work outdoors in the middle of a blizzard to fix something that has been broke for months or years, and then complain because it's taking to long.

10) Last but far from least....China.

1) Light fixtures. They come packed in ridiculous amounts of cardboard, styrofoam, bubble wrap, etc. and every one of them is different. Whenever I open a new one I have to sit and stare at the pieces for a minute before I figure out how it goes together.

2) And I hate having wall boxes packed with sheetrock mud.

3) Reaaaaaaaaaalllllllllly short conductors that don't even stick out the front of the box. I'm an electrician, not a gynecologist.

4) Handi-boxes. They're anything but.

5) Blow-in fiberglass insulation. I don't know how many of my tools have been eaten by that stuff since I started.

Listening to an Electrician telling you how to trouble shoot a problem that they couldn't fix.

1. Journey men who get in a big hurry and do shoddy work (if you don't have the time to do the job right the first time. When are you going to find the time to do it again?)

2. Loose lock nuts and fittings.

3.Cluttered job sites.

4.Not putting power tools back in their cases. (I paid extra for that case guys, let's use it)

5.85 or 95 degree bends. They are called 90's for a reason

numbskulls that dont use the locknut on a holesaw arbor and seize the saw onto it, they also tend to leave the wood plug in it when they are done to let someone else deal with it next time....
