I had 10 rough in inspection and walked with the inspector thru them.Took 20 minutes.Half of that was walking time from unit to unit and signing his name.That is how they manage to do so many in one day.Was the inspection of any value NO but thats our system.
I will add this,the inspector knows who wired the job and i make sure i have our company t shirt on.We have a great reputation for quality code compliant work.They can see workmanship in first few minutes and know if they need to spend longer inspecting.

I do have to add to Jim`s post in RE: to knowing the EC.As in all places there are EC`s that cut corners.The inspector knows who they are and will take the time to inspect with a fine tooth comb.On the other hand i can say that I have had inspectors call me with a violation and say they will sign it off if I tell them it will be corrected.It`s all about respect and knowing who they are dealing with.They trust me and I admire the trust they put in my word.My word is my bond and they know it.They wouldn`t sign off on a potentially dangerous install and I as well would not allow a dangerous install.But when you deal with over 3,000 homes a year all involved must bend to the other

Communities with not 100`s,but 1000`s of new homes complete with there own malls hospitals and schools.But the amount of inspectors remain the same.I feel for these guys,I know each and every one of them and they are very good inspectors.But there hands are tied ,more inspections same amount of inspectors.I`ve seen entire blocks get finals on the same day.I`m talking not 2 or 3 homes but dozens.I know I walked each and every inspection with the inspector and 2 crews just to make sure all passed.

Sounds like you?re caught in the politically correct trap of thinking that there is no wrong or right. Everything exists as an option. How about a jurisdiction that does call-in inspections where the ?inspector? just asks you questions over the phone and approves jobs he?s never seen ?

Just a ?different? way of doing things ?

If I say that they are just fooling both themselves and the public by saying that they are ?inspectors? that ?inspect? the job, am I just giving an opinion again ? No right, no wrong ?
