Receptacle spacing in a kitchen

Can receptacles serving kitchen countertops and islands be used to satisfy the wall space requirements for receptacles?

Example:
An island has a receptacle that would be within 6' of an adjacent wall in a kitchen. The wall section is about 7' long. Would the island receptacle eliminate the need for a receptacle on the wall?

I would say no. But it could be feed from one of the sabc as long as it was in the kitchen.
 
Actually I've never thought about this. I've always installed the wall receptacles separate. But now that the question is raised--why not include it? As long as the receptacles are below 5 1/2 feet, I see no reason why it couldn't be installed, and included in the spacing requirement.
 
A kitchen cir can be no more than 3 recep right?
You only needed 2 for your countertop, why not be able to use the 3rd to satisfy a wall space? :)

That's because it isn't there. :cool:

I do recall some GFI's having instructions about the number of 'downstream' receps they allow, but that's a listing issue and not an NEC. local codes, of course, may dictate otherwise.

Your SABCs must stay on the countertops, despite 210.52(B)(1)'s wording?
 
What I am getting at is the wall that is 7' long needs it's own receptacle on it because the island is not attached to it. Thus "island". so the wall spacing requirements of 210.52 (A) apply to the wall.

Sorry. I was refering to the countertops because that is for reference. I should have inclluded "and for like the fridge" :p
