Sharing Neutrals

Thanks for validating every point I made.

Yes it does but does not clarify which phases.
And I never said you could share a neutral on the same phase.

The spec didn't say you couldn't.

It says two phases, phase a and phase a is not two phases so the spec doesn't imply or give permission to share a neutral on the same phase. The spec probably doesn't tell you that you can't put the black wire on the silver screw on a receptacle either. that doesn't give you permission. Look I am not specifically trying to offend you but I feel it is likely I will. This is supposed to be a site for those in the electrical trade. There was not point in the shared neutral same phase comment except to split hairs. It didn't add anything to the discussion except 6 pages of BS. AND in many ways I am just as guilty by continuing to respond so I will stop now. You can have the last word.:p

I quoted and highlighted the section above: "Neutral conductors shall not be used for more than one branch circuit, ..." from 200.4(A).
Question: Given a 3-phase MWBC home run, does 200.4(A) prohibit splitting off just one ungrounded condctor with its own neutral, and then continuing the other two ungrounded conductors with a single neutral? I.e. as soon as you separate the three ungrounded conductors in any way, you'd need to split the neutral into 3 neutrals?

Cheers, Wayne

No, the continuation of the two ungrounded conductors and the neutral is still a multi-wire branch circuit.

It says two phases it does not clarify which ones as your speculating.
Your also speculating that the spec doesn't tell you that you cant put the black wire on the silver screw since that part of the spec is not posted.
Not asking for permission, just agreeing with the OP and a few others that the spec is not as clear as you seem to think.
As far as you offending me your right, you already have.
I've been in the electrical trade probably as long or more than most that are members.
Everything about this forum is about splitting hairs.
As far as not adding to the discussion you probably had ought to look back and think about that again.
As far as 6 pages of BS if you don't like it don't read it.
I'll stop now also.

I looked up what you said about me "Going down the Rabbit Hole".
One thing it says about going down a rabbit hole it that you take many branches and usually end up somewhere you don't want to be or not sure how you get there.
But if you were to read further, it also states that along that path you discover many things that you may not have known had you not of taken it.

I'd bet there are some out there that learned something from our back and forth whether you want to be part of all the BS or not.
