I always get a kick out of going into these tremendously large houses with the Halftrack SUV, the brand new every toy one could imagine , a lawn tractor the size of the van I drove up in , to mow the postage stamp back yard ,.. a municipal sized snow blower ,.to clear off the 15 ' driveway , the sprinkler system dumping municipal water on the ground , not to mention every type of weed /insecticide / fertilizer spread known to man ,,, lawn got to be green ,...right .. but wait I see it, right next to the cases and cases of bottled water ,...can't drink the local municipal water ,..Detroit's is much ,much better, a recycle bin filled to the brim with the boxes that the four flat screen TVs came in ,... but they got the bin so they live guilt free

Just jealous I guess,... God Bless America

If someone obtained all of those things through savings and hard work, then yes, that is a serious case of jealousy.

Not everyone who lives the "Mcmansion" lifestyle got it from an endless line of credit. :)
 
I never mentioned how they achieved those things and I wouldn't want a law against it , though I fear income limits are somthing I will live to see, Just that some folks who think they are green are really quite brown ,..
 
in the original picture there is a nm-b stapled to the bottom of the joists near the gas pipe,..not sure if the emt is porperly secured , think I saw two cables in one connector,,What size is the GEC looks to small for running on surface and that groung clamp location don't look right either :smile:

Hey I know when I am not welcome anymore!! Even a cow has got to know his limitations. Im gettin outa here while I still have a hide everyone pming me to come to their bbq as the guest of honor.

I have a question, why won't 100 amperes work? If you are running an AC on the 100 ampere service and gas is available, gas is probably used for cooking, WH, and maybe clothes drying. You could also use gas for backup in case you lost the geothermal. It would only be used in the case of mechanical breakdown since it is 300% efficient and you would still have AC for the summer. :)

The gas is going to be taken out.
 
Reading this post shows me just how much codes change not only by state but from city to city and county to county Etc.. Here in my county the power company has mandated that all services fed from above have to be in 2-1/2" ridgid conduit. The pvc service showed would not be passed nor would SE cable even though NEC would allow it local codes do not.

On sparkys comment about boxing in the top of the panel the next county north of me requires the tops of all panels to be boxed in as to protect the wiring from physical damage. I basically work in 5 different counties and there are so many differences in what flies and doesnt fly I ended up keeping notebooks for each of the counties.

I am not trying to bash Inspectors with this comment but am curious as to why every inspector interprets the code book so differently??
 
We had a couple build a "green" house just outside of the city limits, so it's in the county. They wanted to heat the house with solar, (this was actually on a show that one of the guys from This Old House does) the county made them put in an $8000 heating system because, and I quote, "the County of Ventura does not consider the sun to be a reliable source of energy". They actually have a plaque on the house with that quote. They said in three years that they have only turned on the heating system once and that was to test it.
