Is there a code issue with wrapping stranded wire around terminals on a receptacle, it does not make good common sence to me. I have crews that stand by the use of stranded. I have looked and have not seen a code issue but i wish i could. as i mentioned, It just does not make good sense.

Nothing wrong with useing stranded wire. These guys were probably trained to do industrial work. At one time I didn't like to work with solid wire. It's more what you have been useing than anything, that and job specs.

It's perfectly fine to terminate stranded wire to recepts, and is not a violation. The bigger question is how the connection is made. This has been discussed at serious length in many threads on this site. Use the search function and you will be reading for hours.
Standed on screws is perfectly fine as detailed above....if you need another little something extra to make it "ok" for you, consider adding sta-cons - but the cost will outweigh the benefits as you seem to have experienced crews that can accomplish this task as is.

Using strand to hook your terminations is fine just leave a bit of an insulation tab on the end of the conductor to keep the strands from fraying.....just a tip..... not a code issue.

Often the crew leader has the option on stranded or solid.Only reason i end up with solid is if there is some in our warehouse or i pick it because runs are short and i want to push it.Long runs with many 90's and i want stranded.

I prefer to use the backwired (not stab-in) receptacles when using stranded wire.

have seen the receptacles that come with a removable clip on pigtail,I see a code change in the future
