Stranded wires under screws

I've tried everyone of those terminations with stranded wire. Only one I really like is the pressure plate.
Don't understand everyone getting all worked up over the way they do it. I think we all know what would be the "BEST" way to terminate the stranded wire on a device w/out pressure plate. Now what matters is "HOW" we choose to terminate.

And I didn't even use a pliers... I skun it with my teeth.

For those who like taping over device screws, do you use white on the grounded-conductor side and black on the ungrounded side?

What about green tape over the EGC screw? :grin:

I agree, it's the best termination for stranded conductors, but I have no problems with just screws.

Interestingly, it sux for solid conductors; the screw slot strips out before you can get it tight enough.

only thing it has going for it, is that it is somewhat alphabetical...bpy

Brown, purple, yellow is what I use. It appears the NEC has a requirement for orange that has nothing to do with a 480 wye system.

110.15 High-Leg Marking.
On a 4-wire, delta-connected system where the midpoint of one phase winding is grounded, only the conductor or busbar having the higher phase voltage to ground shall be durably and permanently marked by an outer finish that is orange in color or by other effective means. Such identification shall be placed at each point on the system where a connection is made if the grounded conductor is also present.

It might be ok (Stranded under screw) but the screw seems loose to me. If it was tight the strands would be spilling out from under the screw. No offense, but when I see it done like that I think to myself "What a hack!" It only takes a second to crimp a sta-kon on (with the proper tool, not linemans pliers.) and tighten the screw to proper torque. Btw, what does the listing instructions say this? I dought it says use stranded for either screw or back-stab.

I don't measure how well a method works for someone else, just how well it works for me.

I don't believe a forked lug has the circular mill area of either a solid or a stranded wire and it certainly doesn't wrap the screw 270 deg.
