have you ever heard of a carpenter having to train a new hammer? its where the head wears to thier swing. as crazy as it sounds its true, you can give ten different guys the same tool and come back in a year and they will all be worn slightly different because no two people use the same tool exactally the same. call me crazy but i might not be able to see the difference but i can feel it.

Oh I see what you're saying...I can definitely feel the difference in a hammer, but pliers...not so much.

I always cut questionable wires with my strippers now as they are easier to replace. It is sometimes tempting to cut with my offset pin angled head dykes buy when I think about a short I holster them and break out the wire strippers for the cut.

2 weeks ago I put into affect my new tool policy. I replace broken tools you replace lost tool or abused tool. for 2008 I have missing 2 hole hawg, 1 2" hydraulic punch kit, 2 Klien ratchet cutter, 1 set of line mans glove, and 1 set of rubber gloves. So on Thursday they lost a phone but set I deducted $95 off each tech/helper pay check and guess what happened. They found it on Monday. Wow :) Next is inventory on the truck we photographed each bin and restock each bin on all my trucks over the weekend and the tech running that truck is responsible for it all, so guess what I got a reorder list from all the truck for the first time today  Funny when you pay for it how it is nice and last a long time?

that really pisses me off. how do you loose all those tools? i bet if they were their tools they definatly would not loose them. I really dont think that all those tools went missing. I would definatly hold people accountalble. I know you cant make them pay for the tools but I would do what one boss i worked for did. He would give us a christmass bonus every year and it was quite considerable. but if you were one of those guys that had a habit of loosing tools you wouldnt excpect much more than a couple of hundred bucks but if you took care of everything you could expect as much as a few grand like (5)

checked with the state, they gave me a green light and I will refund the 95 to each this week due to the tools appeared after all the van were inventoried, (not in any van). I am also sure that my tools are on ebay. Oh here is the best my new call back policy is as follows ,also legal! I am only paying $8/hr to go back and take care of the call back. I already payed you to do the job and you are suppose to be an electrician unless product failed then that is not your fault only I get screwed then. I started this 4 month ago and my call back drop to about 2 a month from 14 average. (forget tools, label, hand prints on wall, forget outlets, didn't turn circuit on, really dumb stuff)

hey bbaumer i take it your a hunter.. check out safety and look up old potatoes I posted some pics with elk about 10 feet from me, I bet you would have loved to be that close

Yes sir I am. I am also an Indiana Hunter's Ed instructor. I bowhunt mostly for whitetails, not elk. No elk in Indiana.

Found the pic. Thanks for sharing that. Never been out west. Cost prohibitive for me right now but one day Jr. and I plan on making a trip.

Our youth deer season opens this weekend. Can only shoot does during the 2 day kids only season. Jr.'s gonna use his muzzleloader for that that. Archery season comes in on Oct. 1st. I plan on being in the woods that morning rain or shine.

It was a tap tool. It wasnt a pleasent couple of minutes. But i just smiled and said "are done whining" you have a 3 floor house, 2 cars and 3 boats your obviously doing very well to be whining over a hand tool....It woulda been nice to say all that but i didnt.

I'm not even reding the rest of this thread. You have SOME BALLS kid to even think that. You better watch your self.

Your boss take major risk everyday and he has to put his neck out there. What did the kid do before he broke the tap? Or maybe he needed for his boat later on:rolleyes:

If someone gets pissy over a tap I'd be thinking about what's gonna happen when you break something expensive and it will happen. To be honest if a tool breaks in the line of work and someone gets excited I really don't care. It's the cost of doing business. Suck it up or get out of business.

Depends how often the person is breaking stuff and how much they put into caring for the company equipment.

More importantly as an employee this is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS

ok it not the tap and if your boss is making you use it then he is pretty good. not just jamming a sheet rock screw in saying there done. So he probably mad cause he had no solution at hand and the kid might had the all well look on his face. that has pissed me off before.
