i think UPC allows more than 24" for 1 1/2" trap arms.

24" vertical is the max allowed for p trap to fixture outlet i believe.

Here's where they throw you for a loop.

[2002] 314.16(B)(1) Conductor fill. Each conductor that originates outside the box and terminates or is spliced within the box shall be counted once, and each conductor passing through the box w/o splice/termination shall be counted once

As I read it, you only count the circuit the one time, so 2- 12's and 2-14's. Someone please please please explain it to me if I did something wrong.

you have to count each set of conductors seperatly that splice within the box, this is because the splice and wire nut take up more room, a conductor just running through a box like we do in conduit, won't use much space.

so if you have 2 12/2 romex and 2 14/2 romex in the box and each conductor is spliced or terminated within the box, each conductor counts as 1 wire count which would be 4 (4@2.25 and 4@2.0) + 1 ground @2.25 +1 device@2.25x2 =23.75 cu" box or larger:)
