would anybody dare to show pic, or explane how the vans are organized?

Y'all seem to stock WAY more material than we do. Is it because there are fewer supply houses and big box stores? We buy a lot from one wholesale house that has 8 stores in a 10 mile radios, not to mention the other suppliers and big blue or orange have several locations. I know it cost money to go get parts, but it also keeps inventory down (It is tax time again) and things don't get all banged up.

Compare the two relative costs, and the answer will become more clear to you.

Yup. When you use REAL costs you are talikng several dollars a minute to drive and shop. A half hour trip to the Depot (which generally takes an hour) can cost you 100/200 dollars. Quite a waste of resources when the suppliers deliver for free.

Inventory is not a bad thing to have. If it's controlled and organized, it's like money in the bank.

the people at work usually bust my chops about having all these tools and tons of stock in my van. but who do they come too when they need something that they dont have?
Remind them of that next time they snag something off your truck. If they ask you for that 2" x 3/4" reducing bushing you've been toting around for 2 years, make them tell you who's the man before you give it to them.

just as an aside, there is a limit to how much material a guy should have on the truck...

had one guy swear up and down that he didn't have T101 timer on his truck...he was on the site, I couldn't argue...but i was pretty sure he had one...so he went to the supply house and bought another one to install...

the next morning, have him go through his truck...tucked in the mess he called stock...2 - T101 timers...yeah, he spent a day that week at the shop going over inventory...i was quite unhappy...

At least he was honest about it and didn't ditch them to save face.

Little do you know that he actually had four of them before he chucked two.

nah, i just had the supply house slips that showed 2 bought (besides the 1 for that job) and no job receipts that showed them installed....

but it can get out of hand quickly...inventory is good...$1000.00 of inventory you won't use for 2 yrs is not good...

Well, I know for sure you use the Manchester EW branch, based on the "MAN" sticker on the GE box. How's that for detective work? ;)
