i love coffee. how can you not drink it?

I wake up every morning legally dead. No heartbeat. Half way through my second cup of coffee it vibrates a bit. By the start of the 3rd cup the eyes snap open, the heart makes a full beat and I'm ready lay some pipe. I agree with my mom when she says that not only does she not understand how people get up in the morning without coffee, she doesn't know why they bother.!!

Now that said I see no easy solutions no matter what product you use or what tools you had available.

I would never install a pvc riser installation. Your mechanics look good and if it were installed in rmc the same way it would be a IMO a much stronger time proven installation.

No way is this for real.

I would say set-up also.
But if not, I would say (a) I would not have it on my building, (B) it would not meed any of our POCO specs, and (c) from an inspectors standpoint, if it were not being used for support, my basic problem would be 352.30(B)

I got a lot of grief from an inspector when we added another PVC riser next to existing PVC risers to a building in Dade county.
Had to get the Chief involved. Wasn't a good situation.
It was 4" with no offsets.

Here's my theory: Since this is overhead, Al didn't have anything to do, so Chris had him paint the GRC riser to look like PVC........

I think it looks good. The pvc riser would be a huge no no where I live though. Rigid is the standard here for that installation.

I don't have any problems with a PVC riser.

I do think the conductor weight will cause the riser to bend after time (sun beating on the PVC).

I've installed a PVC riser before, but I mounted it to a 6" x 6" pressure treated post with the eyebolt installed near the top of the post and the weatherhead terminating about 16" from the top of the post. The PVC riser was well strapped to the post to keep wire weight stresses from bending the PVC.

I have no problem with a PVC riser. It's a PVC mast I would have problems with.

If the service drop is not attached to the PVC, then the're no stress imposed on the riser. But making the pipe a mast, and attaching the drop to it......... uh, no.

Have you noticed that the serving electric utility has not connected it yet? If it were here, we would not connect the service drop to the PVC. The customer would be required to either replace the PVC with either RMC or IMC and in lieu of that he could provide a separate point of attachment (roof rack).
