Yep. House i'm doing now has two of em... One in the kitchen and one in the butlers pantry... I guess when you have so many rooms you just have to make names up for them...

In AZ (in the last 30 years) they are always pigtailed and plugged into a half switched outlet below the sink.

It's funny, go to HD and they sell a GE brand dishwasher cord, and that's it for the "branded" cords. What happens if I buy a Whirlpool? I guess I'll have to go over to the electrical department and buy the generic appliance cord.

The code says the boxes have to be secure. How we accomplish that is up to us. We could hole them in place with bubble gum if it made them secure. There are other codes that prevail for rated assemblies that limit the installation options.

I ran across a re-modeler that used to nail the pb between the studs, and then fill around it with expanding foam. About as secure as it gets. He was a big foam fan. Used them around doors to stiffen the frames up too. I tried it at home. It stiffens them up quite a bit. Probably makes them a lot more secure too.

I can easily do the average service change myself in a day. All-in-one panel, rigid through the roof, 45 feet of 2/0 in the rigid with a roof jack and a weather head. Then consider the grounding, drive a rod and find the water. Misc parts and breakers.

Parts are about $580. Permit is about $120. That leaves $800 for about 7 hours work.

I can live on $800 a day.

WOW!
We wouldn't get away with using 2/0 for 200 amp service here!

I use to profit at 900

I use to profit at 900

I knew Marc would be the one to remind me that nothing is average in this trade! It is a good point Marc. There are so many "variables" to this install.electric guy, I am like you!,would there even be a profit on a $900 -200A panel upgrade?

Now Profit when wire to the pole is included doesn't kick in until 1600.
