Call me crazy but if the fish werent staring at me I probably would have continued. The fish REALLY freaked me out. I am still not over it.

That's why Marc always has his trusty megger with him. On lead on each end of Koi pond and you can teach those fish a lesson they won't soon forget. I think the 1000V setting works best.

You know, I never gave it a thought, but I have meggered pond pumps and pond heaters with fish in the pond. I'm not sure why I never realized that until you mentioned it. I don't think I've stunned any fish that I know of. I've found plenty of "leaky" pond equipment, but I guess not leaky enough for the fish to pay much mind.

I have never actually tried to stun any fish myself. I have more trouble with some pit bulls than Koi ponds and I don't even try to stun them. I just thought the megger in the Koi pond would be funny, checking for leaks Mam.

Had a little trouble with a wolf ( 130 to 140 lbs.) about a month ago. I though we had become friends but he didn't like the fact that I wouldn't let him out of the basement. He got in the door way as I was leaving and didn't want to let me out. I think the people running the saw upstairs is what set him off a bit, they don't like the sound and neither do I. I agreed to pet him for a few minutes and everything worked it's self out.

At this point I am thinking of bailing out but I drove 20 minutes and the $150 was my only motivation, other than trying to be a good guy.

Many of us will stay and work through the squalor if only to avoid telling the customer the painfull truth...."This place is nasty, and I don't want to work in here."

But we press on, don't we? Someone has to fix it, right?

Good job 220/221.

...is there a way to bail out gracefully?

Last place if I was a dog I would want to be.

This stinch story is just another reason a lot of ec's do not do residential!
Ran new electric for a RTU at a 8 story dental college. Top floor was a dog kennel for experimental.

You do not want to know or see what vet schools do to dogs!!:-?

I'm sure I don't.

I have a hard time even watching animal cops on Animal Planet.

I have a hard time seeing how people treat their pets on some of the service calls we encounter as described in the OP and others.

There is a lot to be learned about life by entering the places where people live.

Dental experiments using dogs? Seriously?
Get the address and we will go get em I will hit high and you hit low opposite directions (that one is my favorite, It is hard to look cool when you are upside down and disoriented) . We will run our own little experiment on these humans. We will go on halloween and pretend to be trick or treaters. Im no dr but that looks like its gonna hurt.

OK, I'm In.

Where's that number for PETA?

You guys should carry a camera! Do you think the HO would notice you snapping some pics?
Here's a little fixer-upper I was in the other day.
The bank wanted an estimate of value. I think it was worth about "I'll take it if you let me burn it down for fun" dollars. The perfect opportunity for the investor who owns his own dozer. You can't fully appreciate the odor without realizing that the windows were knocked out of the back, so it had been raining inside etc. for a year or so. There had been animals living in it, and the basement had about 8 inches of standing water.
How 'bout that panel? ;)
When I've been in these, my wife just throws a bag for my clothes into the garage, so I don't contaminate the house.

I dont need peta I will old school them . You just keep watch and dont blab what you saw. I will show them how much easier it is to install receptacles laying on the floor. Trying to bend over is soooo bad for your back.

Andy, that house looks like a perfect fire fighter test burn house! I think they let you write off the value as a charitable donation...

220/221, what are you going to do about the parasites that are now living in the front seat of your van?

As an avid caver, I can seriously recommend carrying trash bags with you! If you have a change of clothes, you put the old clothes in the trash bag, if you don't you use a trash bag (or two) as a seat cover.

After seeing those pics and hearing that story, I'm glad I'm not an electrician!
