I was at a big box store a few years back looking for a replacement halogen lamp. They did not have the wattage I needed so I asked the helper to get me another one of a different (lower) wattage. He replied " you can't use that." Me - " Why not." - Helper "you will burn out the ballast." I told him I'll take my chances.

When people use to ask me "is that the best price you can offer me". I would say of course not, and raise it...that stops them in their tracks.

LOL. Back in the old days I was working on a panel when my beeper, on vibrate and with a brand new battery in it, went off. I jumped back and threw my hands in the air and couldn't figure out why I was still getting buzzed.:grin:

Me too. The old Motorola pagers felt just like getting nailed with 60 cycle AC. The first time it happened to me was the worst, especially since it kept on after I let go of the conductor.

Newer phones aren't so bad. They are more subtle and they seem to vibrate a bit faster than 60 Hertz.
