Before buying you should have looked or hired a HI to go over details of what you got.The electrician was hired to wire to min. nec code. When you want more then spec it into the bid.

Most of my jobs I work for the homeowner not the GC, From past experience I try to avoid GC's. The home Owner gets what they want for the price that is negotiated between us. Most of the houses I do are custom built. That must be why I have a different opinion on this then you.

Yes that changes everything. They can be sold on almost anything you suggest.Custom homes are lot more fun to wire.Curious as to why your bybassing the GC.I always prefered work from GC ,they usually are faster pay ,have far more work and know when to call you.Owner builders were always a nightmare and i charged about 20%more just to put up with them.

There are good GC's and bad GC's, I have some good GC's that I do work for, I find just the opposite as far as getting paid, homeowners pay quite well, at least the ones I have worked for, seems like GC's start giving you allot of work and then they act like they own you. I don't want to feel like an employee like I did as an Industrial electrician for 9 years in a mfg plant, thats why I'm on my own now. Home owners are a pain in the ass but most I do work for want what they want and are willing to pay to get what they want. Most houses I do are built by a GC but I work for the homeowner,(thats where the referals come in) Once in awhile I'll do a house being built by the homeowner but I try to avoid these situations.

Hope they are doing it right because no judge would ever believe you if something goes wrong.LOL
Not saying i never allowed the same to happen but we both know its wrong.

How many times do you get a call to rewire a furnace or boiler change out? The Heating contractor has the right to rewire the new equipment... so whats the difference?

IMO the hardwired DW will come to an end, as soon as manufactures come to there senses and smarten up... You don't hardwire a microwave do you? how about a garbage disposal? nope again? Huhhh... funny that the ONLY thing that gets hardwired in a house anymore is a dishwasher.... amazing...

anybody find it a problem that the chord for the dishwasher can only be 4ft long, also their is a particular brand of dishwasher out there that if the receptacle is located in the dishwasher opening that you could not plug in the dishwasher with out removing it

I guess it all depends on where you live, I have yet to get a disposal without a factory cord installed, I coulden't tell you the last time I wired a Electric water heater....Everybody goes with Indirect water heaters...Since the most popular heating is Hydro-Air system...

I would never rough the DW receptacle behind the DW since 9 out of 10 they are right next to a sink cabinet...

Yes lets put it under the valves where it can get leaked on.Sorry but i see a cord and plug as more of a hazard than a upgrade

That's 4' from the back of the DW, another 2' to the box, a 6" overall cord will do.

Celtic have I been reading that rule correctly that the chord can not be longer than 4'
